You might have heard on the television and radio of the latest craze to take over the bedroom. Memory foam beds. These new styles of mattresses utilize NASA technology to mold to the shape of your body, then return to its normal state the second you leave the bed.
Whats the need for these types of bed?
Its cool to have a bed that molds itself around you every time you lay your body down to sleep, but whats it for? What benefits do I get? Well the answer to both those questions lies in the fact that back pain exists no more, unlike conventional beds which leave you feeling cramped up and stiff the next morning.
A small percentage of people from all over the world suffer from lower back pain and still do not take the time to realise why that is. Most back problems can be traced back to your sleeping habits, and if the problem is not dealt with immediately can lead to sever back problems later on in life. Everyone knows the feeling at one point in there life where it was almost unbearable to get out of the bed due to the pain inflicted in the neck or lower back area.
The downside to this new technology is that at the moment it is quite expensive. As demand increases prices are sure to come down as so will manufacturing costs. You can pick up some great deals if you take a good look around, in fact I have spotted many bargains simply browsing the web. Wait! There is another option. You could make your own mattress! Yes, believe it or not, you can make your own memory foam that does exactly the same thing as those shown in your local furniture bed store. I am not talking a clone, I am talking the real thing.
The basic structure of a foam bed is as follows. The bottom layer will consist of a standard foam between 4-6 inches thick, on top of this an egg crate style foam will be placed which provides space for air to release ( this is part the secret key to the memory foam). The third layer consists of memory foam at 4 inches thick with a density of at least 4 pounds per square inch. Fourth layer will be more memory foam at 1-2 inches thick with a density of 2-4 pounds per square inch. Done! You have your own memory foam mattress.
Remember to place your newly made mattress on a flat and stable surface with adequate support for the effects of the memory foam to be effective. Enjoy!
